About UsTHE ENLIGHTENMENT PROJECT
The Taunton Public School’s Enlightenment Project aims to introduce and nurture the academic skills, patterns of thought, and habits of mind that will enable your children to become exceptional high school students. Although a conscious goal of the program is to improve students’ future readiness for advanced coursework, the program’s larger goal is to introduce younger students to the principles of inquiry, evaluation, and argument, as well as to give them practice in blending critical and creative thought. We firmly believe that all students benefit from early and frequent visits to college campuses and are dedicated to providing students with these opportunities. Above all, the we aim to do this in a fun, engaging way, fostering in participants a desire to learn more and achieve at the highest levels. |
Is It Right For Me? |
THE SHORT ANSWER IS "YES!"
The Enlightenment Project is a free summer enrichment program for TPS students. There are two separate divisions of the Enlightenment Project. The younger division of is intended for students who have completed the 6th or 7th grade and are interested in pursuing honors level work at Taunton High School. The upper division is for 8th and 9th grade students at THS who are interested in preparing themselves for AP classwork and rigorous post secondary pursuits. That being said, Enlightenment is open to all students who find learning joyful. Our students demonstrate a combination of academic and intellectual ability, and possess both an interest in learning and a curiosity about their world. |
